Wondering what Reconsidered Goods is all about? The short version is that we are a 501-(c)(3) non-profit that takes donated materials from manufacturers and individuals and helps divert them from the landfill and instead, puts these items and materials into the hands of artists, makers, teachers and kids to create something new. Our locations features a retail store, workshop space, a maker's lab, and a community room for artists to meet and create together. We envision a world where all non-trash items see a second life through art and creative reuse. We see a world where nothing is used once and thrown away ... but reused again and again.

Make-It events are scheduled every 1st Wednesday and the following Sunday of each month. The crafts are listed on the calendar on the website and also on our Facebook page. These events are usually for all skill levels & kid friendly for older children. The materials are items we have donated and they are reused. The cost is $8. These events are set up all day so that crafters can drop in and craft at a time convenient with their schedule that day. Each participant will received basic instructions and demonstration of the craft. The idea is for people to stay and chat with other crafters and enjoy the social crafting time. It’s similar to a family table meal experience but you are passing paints and glue instead of mashed potatoes. This event is fun for quiet crafting or socializing. Drinks and snacks can be brought in by participants (alcohol is permitted).
Craft & Draft events are every 3rd Tuesday of the month and are located at a local brewery. These events are great ways to meet up with friends or make new friends over drinks and a crafting project. It supports a local business and also provides some socializing while make a fun craft. We have various workshops available throughout the year. We often have beginning sewing workshops for those wanting to learn. Check the calendar below for the latest schedule.
We have 4 Viking sewing machines in our on-site Sewing Lab. For $5 an hour you can come into the lab area and use our facilities for sewing projects. This is a self led sewing lab, so basic sewing skills are needed. It’s a convenient resource for those without machines or for those that just have a quick project and don’t want the mess at home. The Lab is always open when the store is open. No appointment needed.
Reconsidered Goods is a benefit for all that are involved — after we achieve our501(c)(3) status, our donors will be eligible for a tax deduction for the value of the items they donate. Community members will have access to hard-to-find, affordable materials. Usable materials are kept from entering the waste stream.
As an organization, nearly 90% of our annual budget will be coming from income generated through sales and fee-for-service programming. The money we make through retail sales and outreach programs will pay for day-to-day operations (salaries, rent, utilities, vehicles, etc.) and will allow us to continue collecting materials and providing programming that fulfills our mission. The remaining 10% will be generated through community grants to further the arts, education, and environmental endeavors.
Reconsidered Goods always accepts donations during business hours and is averaging around
of materials that are donated per month and diverted from our local waste stream.
